We provide education and services, and we advocate with federal, provincial, and territorial governments on issues that matter to the Parkinson’s community in Canada. The Parkinson Research Program funds innovative research to search for better treatments and a cure.     People living with Parkinson’s count on us to be there at every step of their Parkinson’s journey. To learn more about us, please visit www.parkinson.ca.      The Opportunity  SuperWalk Coordinators play a pivotal role in raising awareness and funds for people living with Parkinson’s. They champion and lead the coordination of SuperWalk in communities, from start to finish, with support from Parkinson Canada. They support the organizing committee and ensure a positive experience for event participants. You will solicit sponsors in conjunction with the Sponsorship Coordinator and ensure the funds collected the day of the event are properly recorded and deposited. You will ensure all activities and actions are in alignment with the Parkinson Canada SuperWalk program and Parkinson Canada Policies.     Your Contribution  As a SuperWalk Coordinator, your people-skills, enthusiasm, and talent for organizing make you an excellent community facilitator. You enjoy guiding and mentoring other volunteers and helping them excel at their tasks. As someone who loves event logistics, you excel at key tasks, including:  Selecting and securing site for SuperWalk   Preparing a budget for the local event   Sourcing local sponsorships   Recruiting and providing leadership for the organizing committee  Managing volunteers alongside the Volunteer Coordinator  Organizing and Chairing Committee Meetings   Attending monthly (April-October) conference calls with Parkinson Canada event staff  Attending and overseeing all aspects of the walk including post walk wrap up    What is Needed to Succeed in this Role  Exceptional leadership skills and enjoy working as part of a team   Excellent organizational skills   Excellent interpersonal and communication skills   Ability to delegate and hold volunteers accountable   Possess an interest in working with Parkinson Canada and with Canadians living with Parkinson’s and their families   Able to dedicate the amount of time required to successfully execute the role   Able to meet deadlines     Benefits for SuperWalk Coordinators  As a volunteer SuperWalk Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to develop your leadership potential and project management skills in a context outside of regular employment. Most importantly you will make an impact in the lives of those living with Parkinson’s.     Commitment  The time commitment for this opportunity is April to October 6-8 hours per month, including monthly meetings and post event wrap up. Kingston-Belleville MS Walk Event Day Volunteers

Description: The 2023 Kingston-Belleville MS Walk is taking place Sunday May 28th 11:00am at Lake Ontario Park Pavillion in Kingston! The MS Walk is a community-driven event for people living with or affected by Multiple Sclerosis as well as those who want to support our vision of creating a world free of MS. Tens of thousands of Canadians come together in their communities every May to participate, fundraise and volunteer in MS Walk to help find the cause and cure for this disease. These events would not be possible without the support of hundreds of dedicated volunteers given their time. There are various areas where volunteer help is needed to ensure that this event runs smoothly and participants have a great experience while they are walking to raise critical funds to support those effected by MS. Site Set Up/Wrap Up Crew: Unloading supplies and equipment Helping set up/tear down tents, tables, chairs, banner & signs Decorating and tidying the site, clean up post event Parking Attendants: Directing traffic to parking lot or designated parking areas Check In Lead: Oversee participant check-in area Check in: Managing check in line ups and directing participants Provide event info to participants and answer any questions Making a donation ask to participants who have not yet donated Checkpoint: Help load/unload event vehicles with supplies Set up and clean up checkpoint area Greet and cheer on participants Route Marshal: Help set up directional signage along route Alert participants at heavy traffic areas, hazards or changes on the route If needed, alert traffic that participants are crossing intersections. Route marshal should not attempt to stop oncoming traffic Cheer on participants Photographer & Photographer Assistant: Take photos of teams and participants at the start/finish line Capture general images of event participants and volunteers Encourage participants and teams to have their photos taken Help control line ups and sort through team name signs Floater: Being flexible to fill any gaps as they arise Food & Beverage Lead: Oversee Food & Beverage area Food & Beverage: Set up food, beverage and supplies, restocking and cleaning away litter Help to clean up after event Start/Finish Line Cheer Squad: Cheer participants as they head out on the route and as they return Volunteer Check-In: When volunteers arrive, check off name on volunteer attendance list Make sure that everyone has completed a volunteer information form Hand out volunteer t-shirt, name tag and student letter Provide volunteer with their assignment and direct them to the designated area Interested? Crisis Line and Support Volunteer

Description: Volunteering with the Sexual Assault Centre Kingston offers you a unique and rewarding opportunity to join other compassionate individuals committed to working towards the prevention of sexual violence. Our volunteer program is flexibly designed, allowing you to be as active and involved while working around your schedule. Our vital services remain available as a result of compassionate and empathetic volunteers, like you! As a volunteer with us, you will spend time on our telephone crisis line and chat/text support line. These lines support survivors from 7 different regions across Ontario (KFL&A, Ottawa, Renfrew County, North Bay and area, Niagara and area, Quinte and area, SDG&A). You will learn vital skills to provide trauma-informed crisis response care that is situated in an anti-racist, anti-oppressive intersectional feminist framework. Other volunteer opportunities that might become available include but are not limited to: accompaniment support, behind-the-scenes volunteering, and outreach. All of our volunteers typically start on the crisis lines before being offered these additional opportunities. Join A Greener Future's team at Lake Ontario Park for a litter cleanup. Participants will be provided with all supplies and equipment. All ages are welcome! Registration is required as space is limited. Please register here. High school community service hours can be earned at this event.
