FIRST Tech Challenge Ontario Provincial Championships

Description: The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is an exhilarating global robotics competition for middle and high school students. Participants design, build, and program robots to navigate intricate challenges, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. We are hosting our Provincial Championship where the best teams in Ontario will compete for 4 spots at the World Championship! Date: February 10th, 2024 Location:St Lawrence College, Kingston Campus Time: 7am - 7:30pm Volunteers play a crucial role in making FTC events a success, contributing to the development of the next generation of innovators and leaders. By volunteering, you'll inspire and support young minds in their journey to explore STEM fields, all while being part of an exciting and rewarding community dedicated to shaping the future of technology. We have roles for all ages and all experience levels! Event Day Volunteer- 2024 Kingston-Belleville MS Walk

Description: The 2024 Kingston-Belleville MS Walk is taking place Sunday May 26th 11:00am at Lake Ontario Park and Pavilion in Kingston! The MS Walk is a community-driven event for people living with or affected by Multiple Sclerosis as well as those who want to support our vision of creating a world free of MS. Tens of thousands of Canadians come together in their communities every May to participate, fundraise and volunteer in MS Walk to help find the cause and cure for this disease. These events would not be possible without the support of hundreds of dedicated volunteers given their time. There are various areas where volunteer help is needed to ensure that this event runs smoothly and participants have a great experience while they are walking to raise critical funds to support those effected by MS. Event Set Up: Unloading supplies and equipment Helping set up tents, tables, chairs, banner & signs Participant Check In Lead: Oversee participant check-in area Participant Check in: Managing check in line ups and directing participants Provide event info to participants and answer any questions Making a donation ask to participants who have not yet donated Checkpoint: Help load/unload event vehicles with supplies Set up and clean up checkpoint area Greet and cheer on participants Route Marshal: Help set up directional signage along route Alert participants at heavy traffic areas, hazards or changes on the route If needed, alert traffic that participants are crossing intersections. Route marshal should not attempt to stop oncoming traffic Cheer on participants Food & Beverage: Set up food, beverage and supplies, restocking and cleaning away litter Help to clean up after event Start/Finish Line Cheer Squad: Cheer participants as they head out on the route and as they return Volunteer Check In: When volunteers arrive, check off name on volunteer attendance list Ensure volunteers have completed a volunteer information form Direct volunteers to their designated area Interested? Volunteer Scorekeepers for Boccia Tournament

Description: Overview: We are seeking individuals to volunteer as scorekeepers for the 2024 Ontario Boccia Championships. Boccia is a precision ball sport similar to bocce and lawn bowling, designed specifically for athletes with disabilities. As a scorekeeper, you will play a crucial role in ensuring fair play and accurate recording of scores throughout the tournament. Location: Slush Puppie Place, 1 The Tragically Hip Way, Kingston Times: Saturday Aug 10, 9am-7pm Sunday Aug 11, 9am-4pm Responsibilities: Scorekeeping: Keep accurate track of scores for each match using provided scoresheets and iPad application. Training will be provided on site. Assist Officials: Willingness to work collaboratively with the tournament officials on court as needed. This may include ball retrieval or acting as a lines person. Problem Solving: Address any discrepancies or issues that may arise during matches in a timely manner, seeking guidance from tournament officials when necessary. All volunteer scorekeepers that volunteer for full days will receive lunch. Majority of the role will be seated. Volunteers will also be provided a t-shirt. Best Buddies Friendship Walk Volunteers

Description: Best Buddies Canada is a national registered charity that promotes inclusion by creating lasting one-to-one friendships between individuals living with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD and Autism Spectrum Disorder). In the United States, Best Buddies Friendship Walks are the leading walk in the country supporting inclusion for people with IDD. The walks play a key role in funding the Best Buddies programs dedicated to developing friendships, leadership development, and integrated job opportunities for people with IDD. The walks are held at 70 locations across the globe and are attended by 50,000 participants. In Canada, we are excited to begin piloting our first Friendship Walk in Kingston and Michaels, the Arts and Crafts Store in Kingston, will be a partner on it. Volunteers must be located in Kingston, ON, and be available tentatively on September 29th, 2024 between 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM. Volunteers will support set-up, tear down, and other tasks during the event.
