Description: The Kingston School of Art (KSOA) is currently looking for dynamic community members to serve on its Board of Directors. We are seeking to create a diverse board culture that closely matches the diversity of our community. and encourage applicants from all backgrounds.       The Kingston School of Art (KSOA) is a non-profit charitable organization. Formed in 1994 and governed by a community-based volunteer Board of Directors, KSOA is supported by fundraising, student fees, donations and grants. Its mission is to provide cost-effective year-round art classes, have studio-based hands-on instruction and provide practical artistic experiences. Through the creation of an inclusive and supportive environment, KSOA art space encourages artistic individuality and innovation, as well as cultivates an appreciation of the arts within the greater community. KSOA also runs the Window Art Gallery (WAG), a non-profit volunteer run community art gallery which was established in May 2011.                      We are looking for community-minded individuals with an interest in visual art that want to help further the mission and goals of KSOA. Your experience in the private sector, past service on other boards, business, art education, marketing, human resources, fundraising or a variety of other activities can help contribute to the continued success of KSOA. As a voluntary member of KSOA’s Board of Directors, responsibilities include: Supporting the mission and values of KSOA by supporting the organisation to achieve its goals and by helping to involve others in KSOA’s work. Understanding KSOA’s programs and activities; identifying ways in which they can assist, and by taking responsibility and initiative to support KSOA’s various projects. Acting as an ambassador for KSOA by helping to create the interest and excitement that brings ideas, volunteers, new partnerships, and other resources to the organisation. Queen’s Occupational Therapy looking for Volunteers to work with Students

Description: The Clinical Education Centre and part of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen’s University. At our centre, volunteers from the community participate in health related interviews with our students, allowing the students to learn, practice and hone their history taking abilities before graduation. On Friday, March 11 and Friday, March 18, our Occupational Therapy students will be conducting in person interview sessions in the morning with community members with a range of different health conditions/disabilities. The student teams will work with volunteers over 2 sessions: they will be conducting an assessment in the first session and use the second session to discuss possible interventions with volunteers. This project is considered a ‘capstone’ course, and students are in their final term of study. Their volunteer interactions are a critical component of this course. The only requirement for volunteers is that you are willing to participate and share your story. The interviews will take place at the Clinical Education Centre located at 31 George Street from 10:00 – 11:30 AM on March 11 and March 18 and each person would be asked to engage with five students during that time. Parking will be provided on a first come, first served basis and we can also assist with transportation as needed. Please note participants need to be present as both dates as for the second session, students will be sharing community resources or ideas and interventions on what could help your situation. Paediatric Assessments with Queen’s Nurse Practitioners

Description: The Clinical Education Centre and part of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen’s University. At our centre, volunteers from the community participate in health related interviews with our students, allowing the students to learn, practice and hone their history taking abilities before graduation. On Friday, March 25, our Nurse Practitioner students will be participating in an in person interactive session with community members and their children. The Nurses will be conducting a pediatric assessment which could include listening to heart and lung sounds, observing the children play, assessing muscle tone and more. This is a non-invasive physical assessment. There are 8 – 9 NP students per group that will be working with their clinical instructor to conduct these assessments. The sessions will run at the Clinical Education Centre (CEC) located at 31 George Street. We have spots open both morning and afternoon. Please contact us if you’re interested in participating and we can give you the session timing. Parking will be provided on a first come, first served basis at the Centre. Bingo Volunteer

Description: The Kidney Foundation Kingston Chapter is seeking volunteers to join our bingo team. Volunteers will be required to work a 2 hour shift once or twice per month at Play Gaming & Entertainment. All Kidney Foundation volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated and must provide proof.  Training and PPE will be provided.

Virtual Volunteer Opportunity with Queen's Physical Therapy Students

Description: We’re the Clinical Education Centre and part of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen’s University. At our Centre, volunteers from the community participate in health related interviews with our students, allowing the students to learn, practice and hone their history taking abilities before graduation. On Thursday, May 12 and Friday, May 13, our Physical Therapy students will be participating in virtual interview sessions in the afternoon with community members who are living with Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s. Might you be interested in teaching our students? Volunteers normally enjoy the social aspect of interacting with the students and students benefit from learning about the volunteers experiences living with their condition. The only requirement is that you are willing to participate and share your story. The interviews will run on Zoom from 3:15 – 4:30 PM on Thursday, May 12 (MS) and 2:30 – 3:30 PM on Friday, May 13 (Parkinson’s). Each person would be asked to engage with a group of five students during each session.
