Opportunity Description:

The Clinical Education Centre and part of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen’s University. At our centre, volunteers from the community participate in health related interviews with our students, allowing the students to learn, practice and hone their history taking abilities before graduation. On Friday, March 11 and Friday, March 18, our Occupational Therapy students will be conducting in person interview sessions in the morning with community members with a range of different health conditions/disabilities. The student teams will work with volunteers over 2 sessions: they will be conducting an assessment in the first session and use the second session to discuss possible interventions with volunteers. This project is considered a ‘capstone’ course, and students are in their final term of study. Their volunteer interactions are a critical component of this course. The only requirement for volunteers is that you are willing to participate and share your story. The interviews will take place at the Clinical Education Centre located at 31 George Street from 10:00 – 11:30 AM on March 11 and March 18 and each person would be asked to engage with five students during that time. Parking will be provided on a first come, first served basis and we can also assist with transportation as needed. Please note participants need to be present as both dates as for the second session, students will be sharing community resources or ideas and interventions on what could help your situation.
