Parkinson Canada Volunteer Opportunity SuperWalk Event Day Volunteers Parkinson Canada is the definitive voice for the Parkinson’s community in Canada. Our purpose is to transform the lives of people living with Parkinson’s. We do this through research leading to better treatments and the end of Parkinson’s, advocacy bringing the voices of Parkinson’s to the forefront and support that helps people live well with Parkinson’s through education and services. A national registered charity, Parkinson Canada operates through the generosity of donors and is an accredited organization under the Imagine Canada Standards Program. The Opportunity SuperWalk volunteers play a pivotal role in the day of our SuperWalk events, in fact we cannot do it without them. Your people-skills, enthusiasm, and drive to support those living with Parkinson’s would make you an excellent SuperWalk volunteers. You enjoy guiding and mentoring event participants and other volunteers and helping them excel at their tasks. As a day of SuperWalk volunteer and more specifically a Route Marshal you will help event participants with the following: Set up/Tear down Wayfinding Cheering Participants Directing unexpected traffic Providing assistants to participants who may need it Anything else that may come up. What is Needed to Succeed in this Role Enjoys working as part of a team Positive and enthusiastic attitude Ability to spend time outdoors in various weather for a long period of time Possess an interest in working with Parkinson Canada and with Canadians living with Parkinson’s and their families Benefits for SuperWalk Volunteers As a volunteer SuperWalk Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to develop your leadership potential and project management skills in a context outside of regular employment. You will work with an excellent group of people and be able to network with others in a related field. Most importantly you will make an impact in the lives of those living with Parkinson’s. Commitment This event takes place September 9&10, 2023. The window of volunteer time during those days is 7:30 am-7:00pm. Depending on your role you could be needed at various times throughout that time frame.
