If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity that’s challenging and rewarding, this is the position for you! Join our team as Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon (STWM) Team Captain and help build a financial foundation for the ASO so we can ensure people with Autism/Asperger’s (ASD-Level1) and their families continue to get the FREE help they need! Your main duties and responsibilities: Develop and implement a plan to recruit runners/walkers to participate in the STWM (October, 2021) Work closely with Canada Running Series (the STWM event coordinators) to ensure ASO maintains its official charity status and keep up to date about event news/information Engage ASO team members by sending out regular communication to encourage their efforts, and to deliver event details Coordinate registration, race packet pick-up/delivery for ASO STWM team members as required Work closely with the Fundraising Team to support fundraising efforts related to STWM including finding team sponsors, reaching out to corporate sponsors, etc. Maintain and update ASO STWM database Work with the Storytelling Team and Marketing Team to discover stories about team members to share in the media and on social platforms Other STWM related tasks What are we looking for from you: Self-starter with outstanding communication skills both verbally and written Proven experience in event planning and management Knowledge of basic recruitment practices Knowledge of fundraising management and donor/sponsor engagement Well-organized with multi-tasking skills Able to handle stress and remain calm Problem-solving ability Education in Event Planning, Marketing, or Communications preferred Experience working with a non-profit an asset Long-distance running experience an asset Trainings included: Structured training offered by Canada Running Series Organizational training offered by ASO Technology Capabilities Requirement: Remote access ability. You will be required to use your own computer/laptop and will be given access to an ASO gmail account that you will use to conduct all ASO- related correspondence. You must be familiar with online web-conferencing tools (e.g., Zoom). Time commitment: 5-15 hours/per week (remote), slightly heavier time commitment closer to event date (October 2021) Screening Requirements: Resume, Interview, Reference Check Duration: Start immediately until the event completion in October The ASO is a small charity with big heart!
