Opportunity Description:

As a program facilitation volunteer, you will run a JA program to a class of students (this may be in-person or virtual). You’ll help students gain invaluable skills in financial literacy, workplace readiness and entrepreneurship. By sharing your professional knowledge and life experiences, you will inspire students and empower them to make their dreams a reality. This Volunteer Opportunity is targeted at adults who are in the workforce or recently retired as a professional, tradesperson, or business owner.  You will bring your enthusiasm, relevant experience, and knowledge of your career path – we provide everything else! The programs are presented to local students – in class or digitally – and take about 1-2 hours to present. There will be training modules to complete prior to the presentation day to ensure you are fully comfortable with the material. There are many opportunities for English-only volunteers, and fluent French speakers are encouraged and welcome as we work with bilingual and French language schools. JA-NEO Classroom Presentations are pre-prepared, step-by-step programs designed to engage and educate students from Grades 3 – 12 by providing them with knowledge, skills, and resources to ensure they enter post-secondary education or the workforce with a strong foundation of financial responsibility. We also provide students with exposure to career opportunities, grants and scholarships, and resources for small businesses and entrepreneurs that may help set them on a path of lifetime success! All of the materials, training, and scripting is provided to each Volunteer or Volunteer Team for the In Class or Digital Program Presentations. You are also supported by a member of the JA-NEO staff who is on site to assist with administrative items, or to provide additional guidance when needed. Volunteers are welcome to participate once or several times, as the programs will be on-going between January 2025 and June 2025. Targets elementary and secondary schools in the Limestone District School Board as well as the Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic School Board.
