Opportunity Description:

Community Connectors Training is an initial session designed to help you learn how to help others by “signposting” them to information. You will become better equipped to direct friends, family, and neighbours to support in your community that might help improve their health or wellbeing. Why does this matter? Having weak social connections carries health risks. Tackling loneliness and social isolation is the real focus of our project. Connectors have the power to make a huge difference in our community. Caring for others is everyone’s responsibility, not just that of healthcare professionals. Qualifications and Experience You live in KFL&A and want to provide support in your community  Anyone can be a Connector Time Commitment  One-hour training (shorter if you need it to be) It is not about being a volunteer with a specific amount of time, but someone in the community who knows that there is support out there and will share it willingly Benefits Help create a community capable of offering and providing help Decrease loneliness and increase a sense of belonging  Benefits to you Acts of kindness reduce stress and improve mood  Helping others strengthens social connections essential to wellbeing  Connecting with the community increases a sense of belonging for all  Being part of the solution can increase feelings of optimism, confidence, and control
